DRY SLIDING WEAR BEHAVIOUR OF AZ31/ZrO2 COMPOSITES PRODUCED USING A STIR CASTING PROCESS

This study investigates the effect of ZrO2 reinforcement (5, 10 and 15) vol.% on dry sliding wear behaviour AZ31 Mg alloy composites produced using stir casting. The test (pin disc) was conducted at different loads (10, 20, 30 40) N velocities (1, 3 5) m/s. variation in rate friction co-efficient with change load a constant distance determined. Results showed that exhibited lower higher speeds compared to alloy. In particular, AZ31-15 composite lowest coefficient. Different mechanisms operating during were investigated SEM XRD.
